The Game:
Find 3 other MBA students from your school and each pitch in $25US. Using that $100US, show the world how creatively you can raise funds for MBAs Without Borders while at the same time creating awareness about what great things business can do in developing countries.
The Prize:
The team that raises the most funds and awareness will get to go to Kenya, Africa to visit one of MWB’s partners, Kageno, and you will stay four days, three nights in a local village and see what it really means to do business in rural Kenya. After visiting and living with the Kageno community, the team will go to Nairobi and then head on a 2 night, 3 day Safari to the Masai, Mara.
Note: Prize includes: travel, visas, accommodation, safari tour and select meals. Medications, vaccinations & insurance are not included.
Rules and Regulations:
- This competition is for current MBA students anywhere in the world from an accredited MBA program.
- All members of the team must be registered as a MBA student as of May 1st, 2008.
- All teams must get a faculty member from their MBA program to oversee the team and their initiative. One faculty member may oversee more than one team.
- Teams (including assigned faculty member), rough plans, and an initial deposit of $10US per team (submitted by check, online or by phone) is due by February 1st, 2008.
Examples on How to Play:
- Hold a fashion show with business executives promoting clothes, handicrafts, etc made in developing countries; sell the crafts, auction off the business execs for lunch with fellow MBAs or the local community
- Create Facebook, Google, Firefox Widgets that provide daily updates about new business in developing countries
- Design custom T-Shirts supporting business in developing countries, sell them, reinvest the profits and sell more
- Hold a Casino Night or Tournament with a guest speaker talking about business in developing countries
- Create a website that increases awareness about better business in developing countries and import Google, Yahoo, Amazon or other pay-per-click revenue features
- Make a documentary on business and developing countries and sell it on eBay and post it on YouTube; or get it on the air at your local or national TV station
- Invest in stocks that support businesses & NGOs working in developing countries
